Too many children and young people in Queensland and across Australia are growing up affected by trauma, disadvantage, violence and systems that do not adequately protect or support them.
Change for Youth Foundation exists to change that.
We advocate for better laws, policies and systems. We challenge practices that are not delivering for children and young people. And we provide training and education to strengthen the people and organisations responsible for their care, safety and wellbeing.
Our focus is practical: identify what needs to change, build the case for change, and help make it happen.
We advocate on issues that directly affect the safety, wellbeing and future of children and young people.
Our work draws on evidence, professional expertise and the experiences of children, young people and those who work with them.
We engage with government, policymakers, organisations and the broader community to influence policy, legislation and practice.
Good intentions must be supported by meaningful action.
People working with children and young people need the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond effectively to trauma, adversity and complex needs.
Our training translates evidence and experience into practical knowledge that can be applied in real-world settings.
We aim to strengthen practice across the organisations and systems that children encounter.
Individual intervention matters. But it is not enough.
If the systems surrounding children are not working, the same problems will continue to occur.
That is why Change for Youth focuses on systemic change – influencing the laws, policies, practices and professional capability that determine how children and young people are treated and supported.
We work where we believe we can have the greatest impact.
